Another Legacy vs. Maitreya opinion.
I have several drafted posts at this point, it seems this blog is bound to remain a continual work in progress if I can't just DO something about it, so skipping intros and all else, I'll start here.
TL;DR - I got the Legacy, I love it, I'm never using it again.
I purchased the Legacy body on sale recently because as much as I'm enjoying my Maitreya Lara 5.2, I'm always looking for change and I'd been hearing so much about the level of detail and the beautiful shape so I thought I'd check it out. I also took the Classic gift for good measure, and I strongly recommend it as a starter body. It's only $L1 and has a lot more options than any free body I've seen, including the many altamura offerings. I'm not the biggest fan of the HUD, but it seems Maitreya has that on lockdown. They have the most straightforward, well sized, easy to understand, common sense HUD I've ever encountered. Practically zero learning curve there.
Legacy has them beat with the beauty of this body, the detail, the shape. I put it on my regular shape and went from "oh, that's nice" to "oh my goooooodness" real quick and then adjusted my shape so the Lara would more closely mirror the look of the Legacy even though it's not quite. I had to though! I had to stick with my Lara. I only have 2 reasons for sticking with Maitreya. Firstly and leastly, I am not a fan of going backward with this separate hands and feet business but if that were the only reason I'd get over it. However, my main issue, the issue I can't get past while I have the option to avoid it, is this:
What on earth. I checked it with the classic as well, there's some kind of alpha type conflict with the edges of the body and light colors. Like how hair used to cut up eyebrows (if your hair still cuts up your eyebrows, check for updates). Somehow they managed to not have this issue with the feet, but watching myself walk around with a weird outline to my ankles and wrists is just a nonstarter. I'm holding onto hope that they'll update and fix this, but their...ahem...history....makes me concerned that won't happen and I'm just out ~$L2500 because I was bored. Kind of like that time I bought a Catwa and decided to stick with my LAQ. Or when I bought a Teegle when I already had a Water Horse. Seems every few months I'm dropping a couple K on disappointment.
Anyway, I'm Asylum Habilis and this is Solo Second Life.
Happy New Year!
SL was a butt all day yesterday but better late than never! Here's to a happy, healthy 2021!
